Welcome Reception
Start off your week by joining us at the prestigious Union Station for a warm Washington DC welcome to the 27th World Gas Conference. On arrival to the Union Station, one of the country’s first great union railroad terminals you will be given a ceremonial welcome by our talented herald trumpeters.
Once inside the venue ensure you visit each of our themed areas allowing you to learn and explore the great surroundings of Washington DC whilst enjoying local cuisines and networking with colleagues new and old. Amidst our Cherry Blossom floral garden an enchanting violinist will perform. Take a trip to the Nationals Baseball Park where you will stumble upon the Washington Nationals very own Racing Presidents bringing the magic of baseball alive. If you prefer some music why not grab a drink at Georgetown, listen to some soulful Jazz and even watch some live art down at the Waterfront– watch out for the paint! Throughout the night there will be various entertainments to keep you immersed in the culture of Washington DC. Don’t miss out on our VIP Presidents Club where you can visit the Oval Office and the Lincoln memorial and have your picture taken. It promises to be an unmissable welcome evening.

Opening Ceremony
The IGU and American Gas Association will open the largest global gas conference of 2018. Speeches from high level Government and Industry officials will set the scene for the week ahead. Opening the ceremony with a bang we have the Blue Devils Marching band, a world class drum and bugle corps who have won 18 World Championships. Also joining them, to welcome you all to Washington DC, The World Famous Harlem Globetrotters! Bringing their ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one of a kind entertainment, this high energy show is not to be missed.

Networking Reception
As the week almost draws to a close continue your networking whilst enjoying a fusion of American and Korean Cultures as we welcome The Republic of Korea as the hosts of World Gas Conference 2021. Situated in the Ballroom on Level 3 of the WEWCC, you will be greeted by a mix of American and Korean entertainment and cuisine. We will have performances from traditional Korean dancers and musicians who specialize in the art of Samulnori. Ever dreamt of riding a Harley Davidson across the great plains…well now is your chance! Lastly don’t forget to look out for our mesmerizing close up Las Vegas Magician who will leave you speechless!

Closing Ceremony
The Closing Ceremony will culminate with the official handover to the hosts of WGC 2021 – Korea. The finale will be a chance to reflect on the achievements of WGC 2018 as well as give an insight into what the 28th edition of the World Gas Conference will have in store. The DC Youth Orchestra who have performed globally and played for US Presidents and Diplomats will kick off the ceremony.
As we hand over to the Koreans we have the talented Joe Castillo, a world renowned live artist creating a captivating ‘Sandstory’ as we say goodbye to American and welcome the Republic of Korea as the new host of the World Gas Conference.
