Deputy Chief of Mission, Luca Franchetti Prado at the Global Ambassadors Network meeting Nov 1, 2016
Washington, DC, the host city for WGC 2018, is home to the embassies of 177 countries. Through the development of the Global Ambassadors Network, WGC 2018 has begun engagement with these members of the diplomatic corps.
On November 1, 2016, over 135 participants representing dozens of embassies, Capitol Hill and Administration policy makers, regulators, energy experts, think tanks and consultancies gathered at the Italian Embassy in Washington DC to discuss “The Globalization of the Natural Gas Industry” and learn about plans for WGC 2018.
The event managed to stir topical discussions about the present and future state of the global gas industry and the geopolitical challenges and opportunities for natural gas. The tone was set at the Welcome Remarks from the Deputy Chief of Mission, Luca Franchetti Prado “NatGas will play an important role at G7″ and by Ambassador Dr. Neil Parson, Executive Secretary for Integral Development, Organization of American States “Natural gas is not a bridge fuel, but a fuel for today and tomorrow.”
This gathering of the WGC 2018 Global Ambassadors’ Network was the second of many anticipated activities through which the World Gas Conference planning team will engage with policy makers from across the globe to build the voice of gas, and ultimately develop the WGC 2018 conference program.
Natural Gas proved to be a priority for policy makers at the event, Amos Hochstein, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, U.S. Department of State commented “Natural Gas is important because of the combined battle for climate change and energy security.”
It was a great meeting attended by many ambassadors, captains of the industry, DC based policy makers and energy experts and there is every reason to believe that the WGC 2018 Global Ambassadors Network will deliver record numbers of attendance from policy makers across the globe.
This was the second of many future meetings of the Global Ambassadors Network. To receive the presentation slides from the meeting please contact Amy Jordan on +44 20 7978 0019 or at ajordan@thecwcgroup.com
