Commissioner Robert F. Powelson was sworn in August 10, 2017 as a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Prior to joining the FERC, Commissioner Powelson served the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. From 2011-15, he served as Chairman of the Commission and helped usher in a number of new energy policy initiatives around Marcellus Shale development around the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as providing national leadership on pipeline safety.
This past year, Commissioner Powelson served as President of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners based in Washington, DC.
Before joining the Pennsylvania PUC, he served as President & CEO of Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry based in Malvern, PA. Commissioner Powelson is a proud graduate of St. Joseph’s University and received a Master of Governmental Administration from the University of Pennsylvania where he received the Leadership for Results Award back in 2004.
