Philippe Charlez is a Mining Engineer from Ecole Polytechnique de Mons (Belgium) and PHD from Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris. He has worked at Total for 35 years and was a rock mechanics expert for 15 years. He occupies several operational positions in Scotland, Angola and Kazakhstan. He is currently Senior Technical Advisor specialist of Unconventional Resources for the whole Total Group. Charlez is the author of two books on Rock Mechanics and more than 70 scientific papers.
