INNOVATIONS IN INDUSTRIAL UTILIZATION (Moderator)Thursday - June 28, 2018Friday - June 29, 2018Tuesday - June 26, 2018 -
Philippe Buchet is a Doctor in Fluid Mechanics graduating from the Pierre et Marie Curie University (Paris). He started his career by the development of a virtual model of “Numerical Simulation of transition phases in plastic crystals ".
Then he joined the thermal engineering firm STEIN HEURTEY, “Fives Stein” today, Steel & Glass process manufacturer, to develop a Plasma burner to improve energy efficiency of steel processes and develop numerical tools (thermal & CFD modelling) to design thermal processes.
Later he was in charge of design and industrial development of different innovative processes in the field of glass, aluminium and steel processes, like the first world reference of direct hot rolling line for continuous casting of thin slabs ( NUCOR STEEL - US) or 100% hydrogen annealing furnaces. He was appointed Vice President & CTO of STEIN HEURTEY group (Five LILLE group), in charge of R&D and process design.
In 1994, he joined the Marketing & Sales Department of Gaz de France, French Natural Gas utility, to develop new B to B Energy & Environmental services for industrial markets, in the context of liberalisation of energy sales markets.
In 2000, he came back to R&D and joined ENGIE LAB CRIGEN to manage R&D programs for industrial markets and to build and manage an expert team dedicated to Energy & Environmental efficiency services for industrial markets. He is now Director of Research programs and senior ENGIE Key Expert on Energy & Environmental Efficiency for industries.
Philippe is also a member of scientific & technical boards for several R&D centres such as; RECORD (R&D institute on environment & waste treatment – France) and AXELERA (R&D institute on “low carbon foot print plants” dedicated to environmental & chemical/petrochemical industries); Vice Chairman of the Industrial Utilization Working Group of IGU and also lectures in Energy & environment at the engineering school “Ecole des Mines” of NANTES.
