Luke Skaarup is Manager of Integrated Management System and Program Support at Union Gas Limited. In this role, Skaarup is accountable to advance our industry-leading management systems to drive safe, reliable, compliant and effective asset operations at Union Gas.
In his career with Union Gas, Luke has held several roles in engineering and distribution operations. He has relocated to Cambridge, Fort Frances, Thunder Bay and twice to Chatham to take on new roles and challenges across the company.
Luke is a graduate of Lakehead University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and holds his licence as a Professional Engineer. He started working for Union Gas as a summer student on the company construction crew in Thunder Bay in 1999 and then joined Union Gas full time in the pipeline engineering group after graduating from university in 2003. He is a second-generation Union Gas employee as his stepfather, Arthur Martin, worked in Thunder Bay for many years before retiring in 2015.
Luke was born and raised in the small Township of O’Connor, located 50 kilometres outside of Thunder Bay, Ont., and currently resides in Chatham, Ont., along with his wife Nicki, and their four children: Brayden, Gabrielle, Logan, and Charlotte.
As a fitness enthusiast and a former professional strength athlete, Skaarup is a two-time provincial champion in the sport of strongman. In his spare time, you’ll catch Luke spending time with his kids, coaching football, or lifting weights.
