Ing. Mgr. Ladislav Barkoci has graduated from the University of Economics Bratislava in Economics and from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at Comenius University Bratislava in Financial Mathematics. At the beginning of his career he oriented himself on finance controlling. He worked as a controller and later as a Head of Finance Controlling in J&T Finance Group.
In 2009, Ladislav started working for Nafta a.s. and focused on asset management of underground gas storages. Since 2010 he managed the Asset Management department and in 2014 he was appointed as a Deputy Director of the Underground Gas Storage (UGS) Division with a strong focus on development of new storage capacity and enhancing efficiency of existing storage assets. He is mainly responsible for new investments, maintenance and optimization of storage capacity as well as licenses and permits needed for underground gas storage.
During his career at Nafta Ladislav, he has led or participated in numerous projects aimed at increasing technical safety, operability and efficiency of storage assets (e.g. maintenance management process and software, optimization algorithm and software for dispatching of gas flows, integrated storage modelling, management of change, risk management and pipeline integrity management). Ladislav is also managing Nafta’s activities aimed at acquisition of existing gas storage assets in Germany and development of new gas storages in Turkey. He also tries to raise gas industry attention towards new opportunities in the field of energy storage by active screening of new potential areas and technologies.
