Professor Jerzy Stopa, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. is a Professor and Head of Department of Petroleum Engineering at the Drilling Oil and Gas Faculty of AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Cracow, Poland. His research and teaching interests: include mathematical and computer modeling in petroleum and gas engineering with an emphasis on reservoir simulation; non-conventional oil and gas and carbon sequestration.
Prof. Stopa earned a M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics (1981), Ph.D. (1985) and D.Sc. (Habil.) (1997) in Petroleum Engineering all from AGH. He is a member of Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Mathematical Society, International Association of Hydrological Sciences and Polish Society of Petroleum Engineers and Technicians.
Prof. Stopa is an author of over 260 papers printed in scientific journals or presented at conferences including World Petroleum Congresses (2009,2011,2014) and World Gas Conferences (2007, 2009, 2012). He served as co-chairman at the World Petroleum Congresses in Doha (2011) and Moscow (2014). He is also co-author of 4 books and author and principal investigator of more than 50 technical reports for the petroleum industry. Since 2009 he is a member of Working Committee II of International Gas Union. Professor Stopa also works as reservoir engineer on part-time basis for Polish Oil and Gas Company, Warsaw.
