Dzafri Sham Ahmad, aged 52, is the Vice President of Group Health, Safety, Security and Environment, PETRONAS. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Miami, Florida, USA.
Dzafri Sham has more than 28 years of combined work experience in project implementation and plant operations within PETRONAS as well as in a Joint Venture Company primarily in LNG and Gas business. He started his career as Gas Utilization Engineer in PETRONAS Gas Berhad and subsequently progressed as Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager responsible for the successful completion of MLNG DUA and MLNG TIGA Plant Projects in Bintulu, Sarawak. He was later seconded to Egyptian LNG JV Integrated Project Team as the Construction Manager that oversaw the completion of the 2-train LNG plant project in Idku, Egypt. He continued his stint in ELNG during operationalization of the facility, serving as Asset Integrity Advisor to establish department functions and systems covering Maintenance, Technical Services and Inspection for ELNG operations until 2008.
Dzafri Sham has held various senior positions in the PETRONAS Group including General Manager, Gas Processing Plant Complex-A of PETRONAS Gas Bhd, Kerteh from 2008 until 2010, General Manager of Engineering Services, PETRONAS Gas Bhd in 2011, Senior General Manager of Plant Division, Malaysia LNG Group of Companies, Bintulu from 2012 until 2014 and Vice President & Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia LNG Group of Companies from 2015 until March 2016 before being appointed as VP of LNG Assets, Upstream from April till October 2016.
At present, he is serving as Director of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd and also represents PETRONAS as Non-Independent and Non-Executive Director in Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad.
