Diane X. Burman serves as a Commissioner of the New York State Public Service Commission (Commission). Her term runs through February 1, 2024.
As Commissioner, she serves on the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ (NARUC) Board of Directors, is Vice-Chair of the Gas Committee, a member of the Committee on Critical Infrastructure and the Special Subcommittee on Pipeline Safety. She was appointed to the NARUC Gas Technology Institute Public Interest Advisory Committee, and is Chair of the NARUC-DOE Natural Gas Infrastructure Modernization Planning Initiative. She is a member of the 2018 World Gas Conference National Organizing Committee, and serves as Chair of the U.S. DOT PHMSA Voluntary Information-Sharing Working Group. Additionally, she sits on two university advisory boards and is on the Board of Trustees of Congregation Beth Emeth (CBE) in Albany, N.Y., and is Co-Chair of CBE’s membership committee.
Prior to starting with the Commission, Ms. Burman was with the New York State Senate as Chief Counsel of the New York State Senate Republican Conference. She obtained her B.A. from Molloy College, her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, and was admitted to the bar in 1992.
