Dan Gage is President of NGVAmerica, a national trade association dedicated to creating a profitable, sustainable and growing market for compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas in transportation. NGVAmerica represents more than 200 companies, including vehicle manufacturers; natural gas vehicle component manufacturers; natural gas distribution, transmission, and production companies; natural gas development organizations; non-profit advocacy organizations; state and local government agencies; and fleet operators.
A proud Central New York native, Dan holds twenty-five years of political, government, corporate, and trade association issue advocacy, communications and public affairs experience.
Prior to NGVAmerica, Dan was the Senior Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, a trade association representing 12 of the world’s leading car and light truck manufacturers. Together, Alliance members account for roughly 75 percent of the cars and light duty trucks sold in the United States annually.
In this role, Dan served as an industry spokesman and oversaw all aspects of state and federal media campaigns including the development and management of third-party outreach, constituent outreach, grassroots, coalition communications and other activities designed to further the interests of the Alliance’s member companies.
Prior to his work at the Alliance, Dan helped run the Washington, DC office of the American Academy of Pediatrics, representing the policies and positions on federal legislative and regulatory issues of our Nation’s 60,000 primary care pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists, and pediatric surgical specialists and advocating for the health needs of hundreds of thousands of American children for whom they care.
Dan’s worked in the public affairs and government relations arena in both Washington, DC and New York State for his entire professional life. He’s represented various interests in multiple state houses and on Capitol Hill and directed messaging and managed overall operations for countless political campaigns for local, state, and federal office.
Dan’s public-sector work includes service as Chief of Staff and Legislative & Communications Director to former Rep. James T. Walsh of New York, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. In that role, Dan directed all official and political operations for the ten-term Member of Congress and former Appropriations Cardinal and Ranking Member.
Before working with Chairman Walsh, Dan was the Director of Public Affairs for the City of Syracuse, New York under then Mayor and later HUD Deputy Secretary Roy A. Bernardi. Early in his career, Dan served in the White House of President George H.W. Bush where he worked in the Office of Communications under then White House Chief Speechwriter Tony Snow.
Dan is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and received his Master’s in Public Administration and Certificate of Advanced Studies in Health Services Management and Policy from the Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
