Azrina Abdullah is the Head of Social Performance at PETRONAS. A law graduate, she has over 22 years of experience working on social performance matters including human rights, social impact/risk assessments and legislation related to indigenous peoples rights in Malaysia. She has worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), state governments and the academia. She led the establishment of the PETRONAS Human Rights Commitment in 2015, and its related standards and guidelines. She was the first Malaysian appointed as a Visiting Scholar with the US Department of Justice based in Washington DC in 2009. Upon returning to Malaysia, she was involved in conducting audits and due diligence for international projects in the energy and mining industries focusing on compliance to the IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standards. She is also published in a number of international journals on matters pertaining to social performance.
