The world’s largest and most prestigious global gas event, the 27th World Gas Conference (WGC 2018) is coming to Washington DC in June 2018. Held under the patronage of the International Gas Union (IGU) and the American Gas Association (AGA), WGC 2018 receives unrivalled industry support and exceptional participation, with more than 30 global energy industry leaders already confirmed as keynote speakers.
The IGU Coordination Committee is delighted to announce the opening of the Call for Abstracts on April 5, 2017. The Call for Abstracts presents an opportunity for industry leaders worldwide to be part of the official conference program and showcase their expertise to the global gas industry.
Under the theme “Fueling the Future” the event aims to solidify the pivotal role of natural gas as a critical source of energy that is clean, abundant, economical and sustainable. Through business critical content, delivered by 500 high-level speakers, the conference will address the latest developments in policies, strategies, technologies, challenges and opportunities in the global gas industry. In addition, the conference format provides unique networking opportunities for its 12,000 attendees.
WGC is the only global gas event that is conducted by the gas industry for the gas industry. More than 1,000 industry specialists from the IGU’s 11 committees and two task forces work to prepare a program that is unique amongst other global gas events. Industry professionals are invited to submit abstracts of potential papers, which are then reviewed by the committees. Selected papers are incorporated into the program along with the invited senior level speakers. The deadline for submission is September 1, 2017.
“There is a critical need for industry participants and policy makers to collaborate to advance the role of natural gas in the global energy mix. As the global voice of gas, the IGU seeks to improve the quality of life by advancing gas as a key contributor to a sustainable energy future,” commented Jay Copan, Executive Director, WGC 2018 “The World Gas Conference provides the perfect platform for the industry to showcase innovation and technology, as well as providing an unrivalled opportunity to network, collaborate and communicate.”
It is the first time ever that the World Gas Conference will be held in a country that is simultaneously both the largest producer and consumer of natural gas. With the AGA serving as the host industry association, the event is expected to draw more than 12,000 representatives of the gas industry including business leaders, policy makers, customers, NGOs, media and members of the global financial community. Over 350 energy and energy-related companies will host stands in the 40,000 square metre exhibition – the largest gas industry exhibition ever held.
